C++/ Python / QT / Gtk Developer – Front Office Trading Team recruitment

My client is a leading global trading firm, with a fantastic reputation for its market- making and trading teams in Chicago.  The team make markets in equities, index and ETF options, using sophisticated and cutting edge automated strategies to trade commodities, interest rates, currencies and futures. The market-making group provides liquidity in derivative markets and participates in portfolio arbitrage opportunities among correlated products. The firm has a huge focus on technology and they are constantly innovating and seeking new programs and systems to keep them ahead of the competitive electronic trading space.

Through continued profits and growth of the Chicago team, the firm is seeking a strong Python developer to take a key role on their trading system. Your role will involve analyzing, designing and developing python scripting solutions for the trading system. You will demonstrate strong analytical skills regarding how and where to modify existing code in order to provide new/enhanced functionality. Working closely with technologists, traders and systems administrators, you will be given great exposure to both cutting edge technology and the financial markets.

The team is based in Chicago and with a huge number of business critical projects lined up over the coming months, the team is seeking to begin initial interviews asap.

The ideal Junior Python / QT / Gtk Developer will have the following skill set;

• Python

• Perl

• C/C++ would be a plus

• B.S in Computer Science

• 3+ years of commercial experience (financial experience would be a plus)

• Experience with Gtk or Qt would be a plus

• MySQL

• System administration experience would be a plus

• Strong communication skills

• Interest in finance

• Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment

Responsibilities for Junior Python / QT / Gtk Developer will have the following skill set;

• Analyze the trading system and design and develop python scripts

• Maintain and modify existing code as well as provide new functionality

• Work closely with technologists, traders and systems administrators

• Work in a fast paced, dynamic, trading environment and gain great exposure/knowledge of financial products/markets

• Be given training in a number of new technologies
