C++ Software Developer at infoReliance (Stafford, VA) (allows remote)

Job Description

InfoReliance is seeking an experienced Software Developer to provide expertise in support a suite of modeling, planning, and assignment tools for an existing Marine Corps customer. This position is a unique opportunity for a developer with strong C++ skills and experience to become the developer responsible for enhancement of a suite of mission-critical applications supporting the Marine Corps Manpower and Reserves. You will bring technical knowledge to bear, in combination with the historical knowledge of the design and purpose of the application and its modules, which you will learn on the job. You will work in partnership with the functional SME to maintain, enhance, and plan the future state of the application. The functional SME will help you to understand why the system is designed to function as it does, while you will help the SME understand what is possible from a technical perspective. Maintenance on the application is minimal: most of your focus will be on developing enhancements, refining and improving current modules, and developing solutions for new requirements. This role offers excellent stability, as you would be responsible for enhancement and maintenance , as well as helping to define the future state, of this very unique system, gaining a knowledge base that the Marine Corps will always demand.

In this role, in addition to your work as the developer responsible for this C++ application, you will also have the opportunity to work as a part of a shared services team to support other applications. This will be an excellent opportunity for a C++ developer who is interested in the opportunity to maintain or enhance skills in other programming languages, such as .NET.

Location
This position does allow for a significant amount of telecommuting, nearing 100% once you are integrated into the team. While the program is based in Stafford near the Marine Corps base, there is an option to work initially from either our offices in Stafford or at our Headquarters office in Fairfax. There will be requirements for some local travel, around the beltway, especially during the first six months of the job, but we expect that the position will settle into a mainly telecommuting role about six months in. Of course, there will be times when attendance at meetings at our Quantico office is required.
