Job Title: Café Helper
Reports To: Food Service Coordinator/Cafe Lead
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
SUMMARY
Assists workers engaged in preparing foods for cafeteria or food service operations or ready to serve packages by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General:
o Responsible for overall cleaning sanitizing food line and make a good presentation to the customer.
o Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds vegetables and fruits.
o Stirs and strains soups and sauces.
o Weighs and measures designated ingredients.
o Assists with serving and portioning of food on food line.
o Operates cash register.
o Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator.
o Stores foods in designated areas.
o Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils, segregates and removes garbage, and cleans garbage containers.
o Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
o Establishes good rapport with service location employees to ensure customer satisfaction.
o Performs other related functions as required/directed.
o Responsible for performing all job duties in a safe manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
