Description:
My client, a leading life insurance and pensions company in Edinburgh has released a new role for a Calculations Methodology Analyst. This role is intended to exercise expert capability to participate in the production of the necessary specifications, build, testing and maintenance of calculations used throughout quotes, new business, claims, and policy administration processes.
Core Responsibilities:
- The creation of formal Calculations specifications to such a level that they can be used by IT and Testing resource alike in their building of the necessary systems.
- Participate as required in the quality assurance of new calculation specifications, within the team, to ensure their accuracy. Ensure that all the relevant aspects of the calculations are covered by the suggested business scenarios and test cases, and that test evidence is quality assured. This will involve contribution via peer review to the work of others.
- Participate as required in the quality assurance of testing spreadsheets created by the testing area (based on the calculations specifications) to ensure that they accurately reflect the calculations specifications and therefore are fit for purpose in the testing and ultimate sign off of our core systems.
- To progressively ensure that existing systems are performing the required calculations correctly and will therefore be required to sign off via a review of a predefined range of sample cases against a pre-defined success criteria and confirm whether any outstanding issues/errors /solves must be resolved/fixed prior to implementation.
- Develop and deliver improved methodologies for calculations, working with IT, Change and other business partners as necessary, to design and build appropriate systems for the management of our calculations.

Core Requirements:
- Understanding of life and pensions products
- Understanding of the concepts of calculations within Life and Pension products
- Experience of mathematically based analytics
- Experience of calculation specification
- Experience within Life and Pensions environment
- Exposure to Project management
- Graduate (hons)
- Ideally suited to Part Qualified Actuary
