Camp Counselor - Male Title: Camp Counselor - Male Career Category: Camp Walter Johnson Location: Denton, NC Type: Seasonal Position #: 92552 Ã?« Back to Job Listings Description: Plans, implements, coordinates, and supervises an assigned group of male children and youth; promotes quality of programs and safety of campers at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to campers; promotes and stimulates camper participation; coordinates and leads campers through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility; supervises campers during unscheduled program time and evenings; ensures compliance with camp rules and regulations at all times. Ensures safety and a positive experience for campers. Required Experience: Knowledge of the principles and practices of child and youth behavior and development. Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of campers and other staff. Ability to plan, develop, facilitate, and supervise children and youth programs and activities. Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with children and youth. Ability to communicate effectively with campers and camp staff. Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood and youth programs and activities. Required Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. required AND six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be at least 19 years old. Additional Comments: LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: CPR and First Aid Certification MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to observe children and youth and ensure their safety. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, stooping and walking on a frequent basis in order to participate in camping programs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a normal camp environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
