The Talbots Co-Manager assists the General Manager or Store Manager (the “Manager”) in creating a store environment which provides a superior sales and customer experience; executing visual merchandising direction; and recruiting, developing and retaining a strong selling team. The Co-Manager is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and performing all activities within a multiple concept store and/or a multiple location store. In multi-location stores, due to the physical separation of the stores, the Co-Manager may often have responsibility for supervising activities in one location while the Manager is overseeing the other location.

Partner with the Manager on store issues.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Business Management:
Assist the Manager in all daily aspects of managing the entire location, including all concepts and/or sites and assumes complete responsibility.
Strategically identify opportunities to maximize sales and ensure financial goals are achieved.
Plan and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet the needs of the business.
Analyze store reports to optimize performance, take action and give direction based on business trends.
Protect company assets and maintain a safe work environment.
Ensure compliance to all company policies and procedures as well as local, provincial, and federal employment laws.
Maintain operational excellence including strong inventory management and controls.
Maintain two-way communication with the Manager to stay abreast of company and store information and initiatives, as well as, inform the Manager of all store activities.
Assist for the planning and execution of Talbots brand visual direction.
Talent Management:
Create an environment that positions Talbots as an employer of choice.
Network, recruit, interview, train, and develop talent.
Provide timely coaching and feedback to maximize individual and team performance including the ability to give basic direction to associates and delegate tasks.
Ensure effective on-boarding and provide ongoing learning opportunities.
Accountable for the development and succession plan of the team.
Educate the store team on fashion trends, wardrobing and product knowledge.
Address and manage performance by coaching, counseling and carrying out disciplinary action as required.
Ensure associates meet appearance standards that professionally represent the brand.
Maintain appropriate staff levels to meet customer and business needs within company payroll guidelines.
Sales and Service:
Model sales and service excellence.
Use company resources and personal leadership to facilitate and sustain a strong selling environment that holds associates accountable for achieving productivity standards.
Exhibit knowledge of industry trends and the competition.
Maintain store cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
Lead associates to consistently market Talbots brand initiatives and grow key selling metrics.
Strong selling experience required and demonstrated ability to meet or exceeds performance standards.
Requires a minimum of 2 years of management experience. Specialty retailing experience preferred.
Work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the business including opening/closing shifts as well as weekends and holidays.
Requires ability to move about in a store including standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, using stairs, carrying, bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching out with the body, arms, or legs, pulling and lifting objects up to 25 pounds. Sometimes these movements are made quickly and repeatedly.
Ability to navigate computer systems with intermediate computer and keyboarding skills.
Flexible to occasional travel.
