Capital Markets Officer
Appointment will be made on the basis of a 4 year fixed term contract
The EIB is one of the world’s largest issuers in the international capital markets and has a borrowing program of up to EUR 70 billion in 2013. It issues debt in some twenty currencies every year, giving its Capital Markets team a panoramic view of the global financial markets.
The Capital Markets Department raises significant volumes of funds on the finest terms available and contributes to the development of the debt markets, in particular in new Member State, Candidate Countries, Potential Candidate Countries and Partner Country currencies. It consists of three funding groups (Euro; Europe (excl. Euro), Africa; America, Asia, Pacific); Investor Relations and Marketing division.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team identifying, negotiating and executing funding opportunities in the Division’s currencies. S/he will also investigate and develop new markets and new products as well as participate in meetings with the investor community across the globe.
CompAccountabilities
Under the supervision of the Head of Division and/or more senior capital markets officers of the team, s/he will support the Bank’s Funding activities:
- Monitor primary and secondary domestic and international markets and explore new markets
- Search and identify funding opportunities in the markets and currencies covered by the Division
- Investigate the relevant markets using published sources, bank counterparties and relevant public and private institutions
- Liaise with the banking sector
- Research tailor-made financing structures and financial instruments, with a special focus on complex structured issues
- Execute funding transactions as instructed and, if required, assist with issue documentation
- Input transactions into the bank’s systems and liaise with back-office
Qualifications
- University degree, preferably in business or finance
- Three years of relevant professional experience in a bank or financing institution
- Knowledge of capital markets and associated instruments (bonds, derivatives)
- Ability to value financial structures with a solid understanding of the underlying derivatives
- Knowledge of standard financial software and data services
- Good knowledge and experience in the use of financial information systems
- Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good command of the other language (*).The knowledge of other European Union languages would be appreciated

(*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in one of the two languages. If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of the relevant language and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank’s working languages.
