Card Operations Manager recruitment
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage Card operations. Maintain service levels and drive continuous performance improvement.
- Support business change. Identify, develop and deliver incremental performance improvement initiatives (PayPal, Pay at Pump, Fallback to Magstripe, Emergency Cash); act as business expert in support of larger change projects – Contactless, Card issuance.
- Front Office relationship management. Act as the prime point of contact for our front office on card matters. Build and maintain a strong rapport with the business to ensure an effective and credible working relationship.
- Take ownership of performance issues – and fix them. Conduct root cause analysis of card complaints and errors, identify fixes required and make them happen.
- Supplier relationship management. Commercial and operational management of Card supplier contracts, reconciling invoices and monitoring performance. Manage card stock levels.
- Operational service and risk reviews. Facilitate regular operational reviews with our suppliers and internal teams to ensure that the service that is provided is done in the most controlled and efficient way.
- Future strategy. Together with head of operations, develop Cards strategy.
- Design and preparation of a comprehensive suite of accurate MI.
- Scheme statutory obligations. Ensure we comply with our various statutory and other obligations – for example completion of LINK audit
- Operational setup. Ensure documented procedures, controls continuity plans etc. in place.
- Internal controls.
- Maintenance releases. Manage planning, testing and implementation of LINK, Vocalink, Mastercard, Magtek and Verisoft releases
Person Spec:
- Track record of success in card operations, with evidence of driving performance improvement
- Experience in financial services for a retail bank or card services company
- Experience of the project cycle
- A good understanding of card profiles and parameters (magnetic strip and chip)
- Proven expertise in debit cards and credit card payments including authorisations and clearing
- Experience of managing contractual relationships with payments partners and payment schemes
- Willingness to get their hands dirty on the detail, managing individual customer issues
- MasterCard experience a bonus
- Intelligent and analytical
- Good communicator at all levels
- Unerring willingness to see everything from the customer’s perspective
