Care Worker/Support Worker

Vacancies are available in: Bromley, Dartford, Tandridge, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Oxted, Edenbridge, Westerham and surrounding areas.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY/OBJECTIVE: Your responsibilities will include providing personal care, companionship calls, overnight care and domestic support in the comfort of the service user’s own home. You will be required to meet the personal care needs of the service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. Care provided by a Care Worker or Support Worker is expected to include care that would be reasonable as given by a member of the service users own family, and is not expected to include tasks that would normally be expected to be undertaken by a trained nurse.

 

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:

 

·         A full UK driving license and your own car is essential

·         Experience in a domiciliary care or care home environment or in a charity organisation is very advantageous

·         Must be sensitive to the needs of others and to the sick or inform

·         Organized, self motivated, caring and a good communicator

·         An active team player but also able to work on own initiative

 

SALARY/BENEFITS:

 

·         £7.00 per hour from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

£7.50 per hour after 7:00 p.m. and weekends

(A higher wage is available for individuals seeking a Senior role with extensive experience)

·         20p per mile to support petrol costs (excluding travel to first location and to your home)

·         Full intensive training with ongoing support

·         Uniform provided

·         CRB check (please note this is a requirement of working with vulnerable adults)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·         To assist service users who needs help with getting up in the morning, dressing, washing, bathing and toileting.

·         To help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence and help in use of necessary personal aids to maintain their dignity and respect.

·         To help care for service users who are dying and assist their family wherever possible.
To care for service users who are temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing, help with feeding etc.

·         To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of the service users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing activities such as reading, writing, hobbies etc.

·         To make and change beds, tidy rooms, do domestic duties including emptying commodes when required.

·         To inspect, launder and mend service user’s clothes.

·         To set up trays and/or tables, serve meals, feed service users who need help, prepare light meals and wash up, tidy and clean up after preparation.

·         If required by our service users to answer emergency bells, the door, telephone and greet visitors.

·         To read and write reports, to take part in staff and service user meetings and training activities as directed.

·         To perform such other duties as required as long as it is safe for our service user and you to do so.

·         To comply with the Company's Policies and Procedures and guidelines at all times.

·         To report to the Company's Care Manager any significant changes in health or changing circumstances of our service users.

·         To encourage our service users to remain as independent as possible.

·         You will be required to respect the confidentiality of all matters that you might learn in the course of your employment.

·         You will be expected to respect the requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998.

·         You must ensure that you are aware of your responsibilities under the Health Safety at Work Act 1974.

 

WORKING HOURS: Typically 36 hours per week, however hours may vary from week to week depending on the care work available. Flexibility with hours may also be required as shifts will cover mornings, afternoons and weekends. A minimum of one weekend a month will be required. Part time hours are also available on request.
