Casualty Broker Claims Consultant

 

Position Description: 

 

In this position you will be an integral part of the New York based casualty team responsible for the successful oversight and management of all aspects of casualty broker claims services along with developing and maintaining the associated client relationships for the firm.

General Responsibilities:

 

§         Manage and oversee the claims management process delivered by service providers to the respective client base, ensuring consistent delivery of best practices and related loss cost initiatives.

§         Provide clients with advice and technical assistance in workers’ compensation, general and automobile liability claims handling as needed.

§         Participate on claim reviews and file audits ensuring that appropriate claims and loss mitigation strategies are employed by the various claims providers.

§         Generate first notice of loss and coverage related correspondence to insurance carriers as appropriate.        

§         Provide claims advocacy and counsel to clients in working with claims service providers and/or insurance carriers involving significant claims and complex coverage issues.

§         Oversee quality assurance programs to evaluate TPAs, related medical service providers, defense panels, etc… and their adherence to client specific service standards.

§         Generate and analyze assorted loss reports in various RMIS databases for clients and broker needs.

§         General resource for clients on evolving legislative developments impacting the claims and environment.    

§         Provide technical support to internal team members; including placement brokers, sales and client development resources.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

§         Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5-7 years of work experience with an insurance broker, casualty claims administrator or corporate risk management department managing claims.

§         Strong working knowledge of the workers' compensation claims system and the key applicable statutes as well as the cost containment mechanisms afforded through various systems.

§         Working knowledge of General and Auto Liability claims handling processes and litigation related components.

§         Advanced skills in coverage analysis, negligence principles, investigative and negotiation techniques.

§         Strong organizational skills and detail oriented approach.

§         Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

§         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

§         Excellent customer service and collaboration skills.

§         Working knowledge of various insurance contracts and adjusting techniques.

§         Demonstrated leadership, coaching, influencing, and teamwork skills.

§         Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office Product Suite, i.e. WORD, Excel, PowerPoint.
