Catastrophe Modelling Analyst recruitment

In this role you will assess the catastrophe exposure to the Zurich organisation under moderate supervision. Therefore you will calculate catastrophe exposure for all business segments and/or perils. You will support the implementation of a globally consistent best practice process for the data checking, preparation and modelling of all Cat exposures produced within the region including the implementation of an appropriate frequency of modelling. Further you will help to define, communicate and implement best practice modelling approaches and assumptions for the perils. You will additionally model perils outside the region as well as ensure cat data requirements and key areas of data quality improvement are understood by regional business contacts. To Group Reinsurance you will provide modelled exposure, results and support regarding reinsurance submissions. We will rely on you to provide input into model research and development for the perils as well as into IT infrastructure requirements. This role will require occasional travel mainly within the region of responsibility.

To your numerate degree level qualification, preferably with a further degree such as Master's etc., you could join directly from University, two years of related industry experience would be an advantage.
Your proven technical skills, especially programming know-how in SQL and VBA are strong assets. Further assets are knowledge of catastrophe modelling including statistical analysis and interpretation of complex results, knowledge of catastrophe industry trends in the relevant region and knowledge of underwriting practices and systems. Further you will profit from the ability to communicate complex results in a clear manner to non-practitioners, from sound understanding of catastrophe modelling software and tools, good knowledge of financial analysis and actuarial concepts as well as from fluent written and spoken English.
