Category Manager,Indirect/MRO Job in Seneca Falls, New York US

We are seeking a Category Manager, Indirect/MRO Expert who will be responsible for managing the movement of our materials inbound and finished products outbound from of our global locations. This includes manufacturing facilities and distribution centers and ensuring that the company's supply network is sustained and operating in as efficient a manner as possible.
Summary or Responsibilities:
The Indirect/MRO Category Manager is responsible for developing and implementing global sourcing strategies and supplier relationships to meet the RCW manufacturing and customer's needs by leveraging our purchases, to provide greater value in cost, speed, delivery, and quality. Identify and lead sourcing projects and events within the category to achieve annual productivity of 5% and improve service levels to the site and customer. Work with GSCS (Global Supply Chain Services) personnel to improve Indirect/MRO and spend areas in cost and performance. In partnership with GSCS, negotiate contracts with suppliers for RCW sites that are aligned with the Indirect/MRO strategy. Execute tools and processes available from GSCS and ensure that GSCS is delivering best value for RCW. Work with GSCS where opportunities exist for increased value to RCW; develop alternate strategies in alignment with GSCS supply agreement. Partner with site Indirect/MRO personnel to develop an RCW USA Indirect/MRO strategy. Use best practices from all Xylem sites (especially RCW EMEA) for best practices and other tools that can benefit RCW USA sites Indirect/MRO. In partnership with GSCS, develop approved category supplier list and manage contracts across RCW USA (leveraging with EMEA where feasible). This position reports to the Director of Global Supply Chain in Seneca Falls, NY.
Indirect/MRO:
- Work in partnership with the Global Supply Chain Services ( GSCS) and RCW sites to:
- Select and manage suppliers involved in RCW Americas indirect/mro spend category
- Develop strategies for the utilization of suppliers to achieve best price, delivery and quality in support of the US manufacturing sites and customers.
- Understand the current contracts in place with indirect/mro suppliers through GSCS and drive negotiations and strategies in partnership with GSCS to obtain these third-party services resources at best price.
- Drive ebuy supplier pricing performance with GSCS to drive year over year rate reductions
- Lead internal efforts in developing worldwide implementation of best practices throughout the Indirect/MRO organization.
- Utilize ebuy and understand other tools in the marketplace that offer similar services and challenge current tool for improvement with GSCS. Benchmark other Xylem sites for alternate tools used in this area.
- Work with GSCS to identify additional suppliers that offer better overall value to current carriers.
- Develop indirect/mro strategies, prepare RFPs to evaluate potential suppliers, and make appropriate recommendations for sourcing strategy to leverage RCW site wide spend and GSCS contracts
- Establish and measure KPIs to drive performance of suppliers and develop VMI and kanban processes where applicable in these spend areas. Consolidate best practices across RCW sites in indirect/mro processes and sources.
- Manage the network of suppliers supporting the value chain.
- Ensure that all suppliers comply with legal, quality and safety standards.
- Work in non traditional areas of indirect spend areas such as human resources and assist HR with spend management strategies and RFQ preparation
- Develop fiscal budgets and ensure effective management within budgetary guidelines. Provide senior management with periodic reports as designated.
- Define and forecast needed skills, tools and equipment to meet project objectives.
Minimum professional and educational background desired (include years of experience).
- Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) in supply chain or a business-related field.
- Professional Certifications: C.P.M., C.P.I.M., and/or supply chain related certification beneficial.
- 5-10 years experience in purchasing and sourcing, preferably in industrial products.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Indirect/MRO category management.
- Experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies for indirect/mro
- Strong negotiation skills and experience with working with corporate tools and contracts and implementing year over year productivity of 5% per year
- Demonstrated skills associated with building vendor relationships, hands-on experience with the development and deployment of departmental metrics, and experience monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of Indirect/MRO networks.
- Experience in leading a category strategy for the Indirect/MRO spend areas and demonstrated success leading these sourcing strategies resulting in cost savings and improved customer service across manufacturing sites
- Understanding of the premier sourcing process
- Expertise in IT applications and technical knowledge of Indirect/MRO tools and supplier programs that leverage spend
- Financial acumen and budgeting experience.
- Experience in Lean, 6 sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives - green belt certification beneficial.
- Familiarity with MS office suite and proficiency in excel.
- Ability to obtain spend data in a challenging IT environment where this data may be difficult to obtain
