Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of a Category Specialist - Rigs located in Houston, Texas.

Overview:
This position will provide market intelligence, establishing and maintaining key supplier and contractor relationships while ensuring capital project and SBU support meets requirements.

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Reports to Global Category Manager- Drilling Rigs.
  • Support Category Manager in development and implementation of global or regional category and contracting strategies and category plan.
  • Provide market intelligence and studies.
  • Gather and analyze shelf rig supplier performance and prepare presentation materials for SBU and Corporate Executives.
  • Establish and maintain key supplier and contractor relationships
  • Ensure capital project and SBU support meets requirements.
  • Support rig category management activities in all Upstream SBUs and lead small project teams for deployment of Supply Chain and DC category management related initiatives.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science with an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Chevron and Suppliers- to gather, analyze and present rig market intelligence and operational performance data.
  • Ability to lead small project teams- for development and deployment of category management and global DC initiatives such as Automated Supplier Scorecard, Supplier Qualification Process and Rig Acceptance Inspection standard.
  • Basic working knowledge of various types of drilling units.
  • Ability to assist in development of category management plans.
  • Preparation of Corporate Executive level presentations for rigs category.
  • Provide assistance in rig contract research.
  • Preparation and evaluation of sourcing packages.
  • Support contract negotiations with Suppliers.
