C++/C# Quantitative Strategist/Desk Strategist, Boutique New York Hedge Fund recruitment

My client is a rapidly growing and successful Hedge Fund based in New York City, looking to build out their Quantitative infrastructure and technology team. The C#/C++ Quantitative Strategist/Developer will join a small, focused team of quantitative strategists, in a high calibre and well respected group that is responsible for building all the analytics, tools and trading systems driving the firm’s investment process. The C#/C++ Quantitative Strategist/Developer will take a role in the design and development of the core infrastructure and technology system, a highly complex large scale system built in a range of languages including C, C++, C#/.net, F#, Haskell etc. This role requires someone that has a real passion for strategic thinking as well as being completely technical. It is important that the ideal candidate will want to be focused in a team that is hybrid between Technology and Strategy.

This particular Hedge Fund is at the cutting edge of technology and you will be expected to be innovative and have a real passion for quantitative technology. The team is looking to build a number of tools/systems completely from scratch and you will work extremely closely with the front office and be given great exposure to areas such as quantitative modelling, machine learning and financial engineering.  The firm has a very dynamic and collaborative culture, where all employees are rewarded extremely well. The firm is still small (less than 100) and looking to rapidly expand in 2012. The team is ideally looking for candidates with strong backgrounds in the space and excellent quantitative/mathematical ability. They will however consider those from non financial backgrounds (gaming, telecommunications, aerospace, defence systems etc) if they have the technical ability and potential for working in a fast paced and challenging environment.

• Design and development

• Frequent interaction with traders and strategists

• Report to global head of the team

• Interested in applying technology to real situation, comfortable working in fast paced working environment, detail oriented and capable performing task under time pressure

• Effective problem solving both independently or as member of a team

• Good communication skills: must be fluent in English, spoken and written

• Background in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, with minimum Bachelor’s degree, Masters or above is preferred. Proof of good academic record (such as GPA or other relevant test scores)

• Knowledge of basic statistics/probability, familiar with concepts such as correlation, standard deviation and how to calculate
