The CST performs primarily in the surgical scrub role preparing, selecting and maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies. The CST possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique. The CST utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team. The CST will float to a variety of surgical specialties, as necessary, to provide care to surgical patients. (001233) Basic Qualifications: Current student or graduate of an accredited program of surgical technology under the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) must be obtained prior to start date. Internal applicants are required to submit their three most recent performance appraisals. Other Qualifications: Adapts to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a direct, empathetic, and articulate manner. License or Certification: Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. CST Certification through NBSTSA required prior to start date. Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hours/Pay Period: 80 Schedule Details: Variable 8-hour shifts; 1 Holiday per year; Overtime and on-call as needed Weekend Schedule: 1 of 12 Compensation Detail: Minimum rate is $18.12 based upon union contract.
