The Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable, on a per shift basis, for assisting the Nurse Manager in the management of the daily operations of their assigned unit. This may include counseling, directing, and evaluating nursing staff in provision of safe, appropriate, quality nursing care and services.
The Charge Nurse is responsible for facilitating and coordinating patient care delivery and flow through the continuum of care.
The Charge Nurse serves as a resource to unit staff, and aides in the interpretation of the unit specific patient care standards and performance expectations.
The Charge Nurse performs these duties under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager and Nursing Directors.
The Charge Nurse is responsible to practice according to the Nursing theory of Benner, Primacy of caring as described in the nursing philosophy.
CNOR required. A minimum of five years of RN experience in the operating room is highly preferred.
