Founded in 1976, Northside Hospital is a 288-bed facility located in the heart of South Pinellas County, Florida. Northside is part of the HCA West Florida Division of Hospitals, a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery and diagnostic imaging facilities, and a complete continuum of specialized healthcare programs that meet the healthcare needs of residents and businesses in West and Central Florida communities. Accredited by the National Society of Chest Pain Centers and an Accredited Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, Northside is committed to ensuring our patients have access to the highest levels of emergency care available. Our Emergency Department has 17 main ED beds and 5 "fast track" beds, offering exceptional 24-hour emergency care for the patients we serve. We work closely with the county's EMS and Fire Crews and have Emergency Medicine Specialists on staff. And, not only do we beat the national standard for rapid heart attack treatment, our time is currently the best out of any hospital in Hillsborough and Pinellas County.

- Skill Mix: RNs, Paramedics, and Emergency Department Technicians
- Special Certifications Needed: ACLS, BLS, PALS (per the American Heart Association); TNCC preferred.
- Special Competencies/Skills Needed: Past experience in an acute care emergency department setting preferred
- Schedules: 12-hour shifts (varied hours, 7-7, 9-9, 11-11); Full Time is considered 36 hours per week, including every other weekend
- Dress code: Tasteful scrubs (individual provides their own)
- Industrial Health/Workman's Compensation Program on site to provide post-accident care including drug screens breathalyzer testing as necessary
- Complete computerized charting ("Electronic Health Record") for patient assessment and care documentation ("charting by exception"); physician's order entry is soon to be added
- Electronic medication administration record (eMAR) is used for the delivery of all medications provided to patients and has significantly reduced errors associated with the administration of medication hospital-wide
- STEMI-receiving facility (currently exceeding national average)
- Stroke-receiving facility with the ability to administer thrombolytics in the ED to directly improve patient outcomes
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as an RN in Florida.
- Current certification as a BLS, ACLS, and PALS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association.
- NIHSS Certification required (available online at www.strokeassociation.org).
- PRIOR ED RN EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Prior Charge/Supervisory experience desired.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
