Chemical Engineer Job in Cambridge 02142, Massachusetts Us
Responsible for researching, developing, and optimizing biodegradable polymer based products and procedures in a laboratory and in a cGMP environment.
This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing, the Chief Science Officer, and the Chief Executive Officer.
Primary Responsibilities
- Optimize current chemical synthesis processes for clinical products for the nervous system under cGMP
- Characterize raw materials for research and development needs
- Help maintain and set-up standard laboratory equipment
- Add technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines
- Operate testing equipment, such as GPC, HPLC, UV-vis, Instron and GC
- Conduct experiments, observe, calculate and record results per cGMP or cGLP regulations as applicable
- Test incoming raw materials and maintain inspection records
- Quality Control/Assurance model development
- Chemistry laboratory supply management
- Provide chemical engineering expertise to the manufacturing process
- Assist with the optimization of processes during production scale up
- Develop and optimize processes for synthesizing and de-protecting biomaterials to make products safe for human use
- Optimize product fabrication processes
- Other duties as required

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years experience in biomaterials and tissue engineering or equivalent required. Master’s degree desired. Must have strong background in development of individual projects and observational and problem-solving skills to discover new products and technologies.
