Chemist / Laboratory Technician
Primary Responsibilities
Chemist and / or Laboratory Technicians will be responsible for analysis and reporting of various products such as crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, petroleum and petrochemicals, LPG LNG gases, etc.

Specific responsibilities
• Responsible for all Laboratory analysis (hands-on working on the Bench).
• Understand and keep current with all Laboratory safety and reporting techniques.
• Chemist will assist Laboratory Technicians in training.
• Complete all Laboratory reports, as applicable.
• Understand and keep current with all Laboratory analysis methods.
• Responsible for the operation of Gas Chromatograph and other Laboratory equipment.
• Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of Laboratory equipment.
• Position requires a dependable and reliable individual; whose daily presence adds to the success of the Department.
Profile
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or equalivent work experience. Laboratory Technicians should have prior experience
• Knowledge in API standards.
• Position requires incumbent to be on call 24/7 and at times, return to the facility other than regular business hours, which can include evenings, weekend / holidays, when needed to meet business commitments.
• Must be able to work with all chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products.
• Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight.
Skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, while directing numerous projects concurrently with different deadlines.
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
• Maintain current knowledge by attending seminars, lectures, meetings and professional conferences.
• Ability to gather and review resources and select and synthesize data for reports and other written materials.
• High level of accuracy is required, with special attention to details
Additional information
- Depending on location, a company vehicle can be assigned. IF NOT, must have reliable insured vehicle and will be provided with car allowance..
- Our company vehicle policy states that sample containers must be stored in a separated compartment from the occupants' compartment. Must be able to transport samples as per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Depending on situation, may have to utilize SCBA and / respirator. (Will be trained and fit tested).
