Job Description Overview
Calypso seeks an accountant in the Paris office to support the areas of accounts payable, payroll, and tax compliance for its France subsidiary and its 75+ French employees. We are seeking a hands-on individual with relevant experience in a multi-national environment.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day Accounting:
- Responsible for all day-to-day accounting for the Calypso France subsidiary in compliance with French statutory and U.S. GAAP requirements, utilizing Oracle Financials, 12.1 and extensive Excel spreadsheets.
- Supervise processing and payment of supplier invoices and employee expense reports.
- Process France payroll using ADP. Maintain vacation balances and ensure accurate sick leave reporting.
- Ensure proper inter-company invoicing and cross charging of fees.
- Oversee fixed asset reporting and tracking.
- Oversee investing of excess cash and liaise with bank as needed.
- Document policies and procedures as needed.
- Tax Other Compliance: Ensure proper compliance for all taxes, including preparation and filing of income taxes, business taxes, TVA returns, payroll tax, and RD tax credit. Liaise with local external tax advisors and the Corporate Director of Global Tax located in the U.S. Reply to government tax notices and payroll surveys.
- Monthly Close: Manage deadline-driven monthly close, including posting journal entries, closing Oracle modules, and recording expense allocations, calculating and recording inter-company cost-plus invoices, and accruing monthly income tax expense. Prepare monthly corporate reporting package, including monthly expense analysis, actual and forecast cash flow reports, payroll reconciliation and overhead analysis.
- Ledger Reconciliations: Reconciliation and analysis of all balance sheet accounts including: cash, prepaid, fixed assets, and accrued expenses.
- Annual Year-end Audit: Coordinate external audit, prepare France statutory accounts and provide supporting schedules to auditors. Ensure proper mapping of US GAAP accounts to France statutory accounts. Prepare analysis for profit sharing and work council fees. Provide information to support U.S. Corporate audit.
- Ad-hoc reporting: Assist with annual budget preparation and other reporting as required.
Skills Requirements
- 7 to 10 years experience required.
- University degree in accounting required.
- Strong general ledger and financial reporting experience. Demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Firm technical understanding of France statutory and US GAAP accounting requirements.
- Experience working with a US-based corporation highly desirable. Multi-national software and professional services industry experience desirable.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written English language skills.
- Oracle Financials or other ERP system experience strongly desired.
- Analytical ability and computer skills required including strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills, with ability to effectively gather and convey information via e-mail or phone with people located in other non-local offices and in different time zones.
- Must be highly accurate and detail-oriented, with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Personal style includes ability to be self-motivated, a fast-learner, flexible, organized, a team player, dedicated, and have good problem-solving skills. Have “roll-up-the-sleeves” approach. Comfortable working independently in an unstructured, dynamic environment.
