Chief Architect
As a direct report to the OptumRx CIO, will work with senior business leaders across the OptumRx organization and with leaders of UHG IT to define business strategy and capability and map it to IT solutions. Will direct the development and maintenance of an applications portfolio and roadmap by understanding OptumRx's business strategy and UHG IT's technology strategy and aligning them. The scope of the role includes business process, data, applications and infrastructure architectures and will include current, future, and transitional states relative to applications, data, integrations and dependencies. Accountable for working directly with OptumRx IT leads, Domain Business Analysis leads, UHG IT leads, and vendors to declare and maintain a three year rolling outlook of direction relative to OptumRx's Applications Portfolio. Will drive decommissioning, leverage the enterprise, and incorporate industry expertise and direction.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Gaining a deep understanding of the OptumRx business strategy, translating business strategy to an IT solutions agenda and driving execution against the agenda
- Ensuring effective alignment of technology to support Optum business strategy
- Establishing effective working relationships with executives and key business partners to drive change agenda
- Creating and/or enhancing applications roadmaps to increase efficiencies
- Mapping business processes
- Applying industry and technology best practices
- Planning, managing and executing critical technology initiatives
- Driving innovation and creative solutions to business challenges
- Leading technology integration programs
- Delivering business results through technology innovation
- Ensuring delivery of technology solutions within quality goals
- Appropriately leveraging resources to deliver solutions
- Identifying and mentoring technology leaders in order to build/maintain a high performance team
- Influencing direction through teaming
- Adapting to and remain effective in a dynamic and changing environment
Candidates will possess:
- 10 + years of technology leadership experience
- 10 + years of enterprise architecture experience
- 10 + years of business process and applications architecture experience
- Experiences with complex systems integration and application road mapping
- Experience with highly scalable technology solutions that adjust to cyclical business patterns
- Prior success creating and enabling enterprise technology strategies and architectures
- Proven ability to identify common functions across disparate applications and creating enterprise services
- Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective
- Demonstrated success in leveraging technology to meet business objectives
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence business leadership and technologists in the cSuite
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong, trusted business partner relationships
- Prior success affecting change in a large organization
- High level of emotional intelligence
- Strong negotiation, collaboration and consensus building skills
- Ability to influence others to get results in a large, matrixed organizational structure
- Knowledge of the Healthcare, Insurance or Financial Services industry preferred
- Relevant Bachelor's degree or compensating experience; advanced degree preferred
