Chief Architect

The Chief Architect - Search Technologies will have the following role and responsibilities:

            Visionary - for search technology development and the proven ability to deliver it in an industry setting.

            Proven innovator - conceives and executes on significant product development enhancements in search and relevancy.

            Strong leader - although this position may or may not have direct reports, a core requirement is to be able to articulate and inspire major initiatives in search technology throughout the company.

            Hands-on developer - The heart of this role is a deep technologist who consistently implements technologies that leap-frog the status quo.

            Thought leader - at all levels, within the core development team, within the company, and outside the company, the person in this position will promote and share innovative ideas in search.


This position is for a proven, senior practitioner with the following background:

            • 10-15 years experience as an individual contributor and architect in the software industry with a deep and broad, skill set in the areas of search, natural language processing, web scale delivery, cluster computing and data mining

            • Fluency in state-of-the-art development tools/methodologies and the ability to learn new ones.

            • A PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning or related field from a top flight university.

            • Research experience with a nationally recognized institution, industry and/or university affiliated. 

            • Deep natural language background, i.e. knowledgeable of the language specific issues and challenges of internationalizing search applications to foreign languages.  Fluency in a foreign language a major plus.

            • Industry and research experience running scientific evaluations of search relevancy.

            • A technologist with industry experience successfully leading a significant development team for a major technology company, or a company producing state of the art technology in search.
