Specific Job Description This position is for the Lockheed Martin Chief Engineer on the JSC Exploration Technology and Science (JETS) contract. The Chief Engineer is LM?s principle technical expert on the Program and is responsible for the technical integrity of products and processes across the contract. This includes performing technical oversight of work being performed across the contract, ensuring technical quality of products and services, and ensuring that correct technical processes are used to develop products and perform tasks that will need to be followed. The Chief Engineer is also responsible for the development and maintenance of the integrated roadmap of projects that will move the technical architectures towards the desired end state. In support of these roles, the Chief Engineer maintains cognizance of industry and technology trends that can provide life-cycle cost-effective solutions in meeting NASA requirements. The Chief Engineer works the technical teams to identify the communities of practice and benchmark activities that will provide cognizance of industry best practices and technology trends that can be deployed to meet customer requirements. In addition, the LM Chief Engineer is also responsible for interfacing daily with the NASA customer and maintaining close communications with the customer on technical tasks and issues. Standard Job Description Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
