Position:
The successful candidate will be an experienced, dynamic, and accomplished finance professional with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in progressively senior finance leadership roles, preferably within complex private and /or publicly-funded organizations. This permanent, full-time position is located at our Oshawa Head Office.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides leadership and oversees the operation of the Accounting team with periodic reviews of systems
- Prepares financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, statements of cash flows, along with monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and reports on variances for the CEO
- Meets with the CEO monthly to review budgets and analyse operating results against targets
- Provides strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making
- Prepares, analyzes and presents monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for each division for review by the Project Coordinator and Division Coordinator
- Collaborates with Project Coordinators in development of budgets for all new projects to determine financial viability
- Liaises with NLC Project Coordinators on budget preparation and all financial reporting to funders
- Recommends benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of NLC's divisions and departments
- Prepares or reviews all annual reconciliations for payroll taxes and ensures compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements
- Guides financial audits and provides recommendations for procedural improvements
- Handles relevant inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitors cash reserves and investments
Qualifications and Experience:
- Completed post-secondary education in accounting from a recognized Canadian Institute, or its equivalent; and
- Working towards CGA and/or CMA designation
- Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills, complemented by an innovative spirit and a resourceful sensibility
- Commitment to adopting a highly consultative and collaborative leadership style
- Success and experience in supporting organizations through periods of rapid and intense growth and change
- Experience in developing credibility and rapport with key institutional, business and private partners
- Business systems design experience considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Sage Accpac v5.6 or 6.0
- Bilingualism (French and English) considered an asset

Hours and Duration:
Regular office hours are 8:30 to 4:30. Monday to Friday. Hours may vary.
Other Information:
Travel to company locations and other meetings is required
