Chief Financial Officer with MA Experience
New York City - Union Square Area
Privately held Engineering/Construction Company is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to add to its Management Team. The CFO will report directly to the President and openly collaborate with other members of the Management Team to identify operational, growth and development opportunities of the company. This individual will be responsible for supervising those reporting directly to the CFO position and for the overall financial growth and success of the company. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong leadership abilities and financial/business acumen
Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long-term strategic financial objectives and in-depth financial analysis
• Ensure the credibility of all financial responsibilities by providing timely and accurate analysis of financial statements, budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
• Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs, capital expenditures, strategies, and regulatory actions.
• Analyze, recommend, and communicate policies, financial data and analysis to help improve the financial management and efficiency of each department.
• Lead and direct annual budgeting cycle with each department manager
• Establish and maintain strong, collaborating working relationships with division managers to identify needs and explore a full range of business solutions
• Provide President with advice and recommendations on the financial implications of business activities, financial performance, and business opportunities
• Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets, and financial reporting
• Ensure that effective internal controls are in place.
• Work with external CPA firm to ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience in MA a Must
• BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA a plus
• 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership role in a manufacturing business – preferably in a “job shop” environment
• Knowledge and experience working with Private Equity Firms
Knowledge of the principles of financial management sufficient to direct professional staff and coordinate all aspects involved with fiscal requirements
• Knowledge of financial and budgetary practices to develop annual budget, analyze financial data and patterns, and prepare financial statements.
• Strong PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) with knowledge of computer systems, spreadsheet and financial systems programs and applications
• Knowledge of organization’s strategic business objectives and employee performance objectives
• Must possess a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making skills in order to achieve department and company objectives
• Ability to evaluate operations and advise solutions as they relate to policies, goals and objectives, costs, and rate levels
• Skill in identifying and resolving accounting and financial problems
• Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff
• Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
