Keuka College, Keuka Park, New York, seeks a full-time Chief Information Officer (CIO) for its Information Technology Services Department (ITS). The ITS-CIO provides strategic leadership and oversight on information technology so that the College achieves ongoing strategic and tactical goals within our overall mission. The ITS-CIO must have a thorough knowledge of current IT management best practices. The position requires a person who has the ability to effectively and efficiently lead, direct, and manage personnel, insure that ITS provides high quality information technology services that are reliable, available, dependable, and customer service-oriented, and capable of responding to varied audiences and high demand, implementing industry standards, executing best practices, and providing outreach to users to solve problems and provide and assist in implementing solutions. System availability is critical given the College’s residential, on-line, and international demands. The ITS-CIO must have the ability to evaluate data base, hardware, and software systems, and make recommendations in support of Keuka College’s ITS and educational goals.
The ITS-CIO must be dedicated to customer service processes and procedures. The ITS-CIO must understand and implement project management methodologies and tools and apply ITIL concepts, rules, procedures, and management processes. The ITS-CIO supervises staff to execute Service Level Agreements using a work service order application. The position requires the ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, direct, and review the work of staff, including identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and process development.
The ITS CIO collaborates and assists in preparation of the annual budget, and budget estimates for current and proposed projects, and collaborates on proposals for procurement of all computer, Internet and telecommunications systems, and related maintenance services. The ITS-CIO collaborates and assists in preparation of the annual budget and budget estimates for current and proposed IT projects and collaborates on proposals for procurement of computer, Internet and telecommunications systems, and related hardware, software, and maintenance services. The ITS-CIO negotiates and manages vendor contracts, licenses, and other agreements, such as maintenance and telecommunications, and other responsibilities as needs arise. The ITS-CIO advises the VP for Finance and Administration on strategic and operational ITS issues and is a member of the college’s IT Advisory Committee.
Qualifications for the ITS-CIO include a comprehensive knowledge of IT Services administration as evidenced by a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (IT or IT-related, business, or public administration desirable but not required), relevant professional certifications and associations with a minimum of five (5) years of IT experience, including at least three (3) years of IT management and supervisory experience. Demonstrated customer service ability and experience is critical. Good writing skills and strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required.
