CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) is responsible for the overall management and administration of the PSERS internal and external investment program AND serves as the public face of the System on investment matters. 

The CIO oversees a staff of 30 through five direct reports:  the Deputy Chief Investment Officer; the Director, Fixed Income; the Director, Equities; the Director, Operations; and the Director, Private Markets Real Estate. 

The CIO reports to the Board of Trustees for investment matters and to the Executive Director for administrative manners. 

Of the $50B AUM, $12.7B (or 26.7%) is managed internally, in both passive and active portfolios.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree, CFA certification, significant staff management experience, and senior level investment management experience in (or consulting to) a public pension system – as well as a demonstrated track record of portfolio growth and consistent returns in a large and complex investment portfolio.
