Amex Resources Limited is an iron ore focused mineral resource development company with key assets in Fiji. Its core project is the MBA Delta lron Sands project in Fiji comprising a 12mtpa shallow marine dredging operation, floating magnetic concentrator and barge shipment to nearby port facilities for export. Development activities are well advanced, with first magnetite concentrate planned to be produced and shipped first half 2013. The company is now seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated COO to oversee the implementation of the Bankable Feasibility Study, undertake final selection of mining and processing plant, manage construction of port facilities and drive the project into production.
Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s mining strategy as well as working closely with management. You will be expected to manage relations with government officials and nominated contractors as well as with the local Fijian people. The position will be based in Lautoka, Fiji’s second largest city and Amex’s port facility.
An ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills, and to develop and to train a good team will be essential. A commercially astute individual, you will have financial and operational accountability for the project and you will ensure that safety is a number one priority for all staff and contractors. Ideally you will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline with a Mine Manager’s Certificate, although someone with a proven industry track record will certainly be considered.
