Chief Risk Officer

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is a newly created role based in our Sydney office and will have responsibility for the Risk function in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. This role will sit on the Regional Management Team and report to our Regional Head of Asia Pacific and the Global CRO.
3 key components of the CRO role:
1. Market Risk – to understand market risk analysis involving high liquid tradeable products in a real time market risk environment
2. Market Surveillance – requirement to understand and interpret market surveillance reporting with the appropriate skill level and experience to be able to make decisions about escalation and/or actions to be taken
3. Enterprise Risk Management – taking responsibility for the operational business risks associated with a specialist securities firm and to have a good understanding of a large corporate environment and expectations
Other aspects of the role include:
- Participates in the development of the global risk management policy and targets from a regional perspective
- Develops and implements risk management models and parameters
- Contributes to the development of regional and global risk management systems, manuals and procedures as well as monitor compliance, in line with approved risk management models and regulatory requirements
- Ensures the analysis, monitoring and reporting of credit risks, counterparty risks and market risks resulting from credit positions of clients within the region, in order to have continuous insight in the regional risk position
- Ensures service proving towards clients within the region, regarding the structure and quality of client positions and the associated risks, in line with the risk policy and in co-operation with Sales Account Management, in order to provide added value to clients and contribute to a timely and efficient control of potential risks.
- Identifies and analyses new products, clients and markets and based on the findings determines the possible impact on risk management within region and draws up proposals for adjustments in risk management policy and activities, in order to contribute to ensuring the continuous, complete and effective risk monitoring and control.
- Organises, manages, develops and staffs the regional Risk Management department in a qualitative and quantitative manner, in line with HR and global guidelines
Preferred Experience, Expertise Skills:
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills
- Educational background, degree preferable, or alternative business related experience.
- At least 8-10 years of relevant working experience, especially previous experience at a management level and as a department head leading a team.
