Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Job in Manchester, North West Uk
Our client is a leading UK entrepreneurial figure who is launching a new venture online.
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and development of the whole technology and managed services across the business alongside the highly technical CEO. Your role will involve the delivery of strategic advice to the Board.
The role is absolutely pivotal in the delivery of the business objectives as the entire project relies on a solid and well executed e-commerce platform.

The CTO will have the remit to build a team including an E-Commerce Manager as well as overseeing and directing the technical development of the business, the IT Infrastructure, projects and continuous systems development. The CTO will also handle all third party relationships relevant to IT.
Remuneration
£60,000 - £80,000 plus equity participation (via share options initially)
Specific Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and architectural input to sales opportunities/bids and specific strategy to assist in the fast growth of the business.
• Responsible for commercial governance of projects
• Identify and analyse requirements and customer problems, working with The Head of Customer Services, leading the development of a suitable architecture to resolve and react to any ongoing issues.
• Actively contribute to the Services and Solutions Propositions and standards utilised in transformation and delivery
• Provide management and assistance to sales and business development teams by actively identifying solution opportunities.
• Contribute to the corporate strategy by suggesting new service and solutions capabilities. This role will form a large guiding hand to the Board of Directors and alongside key members of the management team will provide the vision for technology within the company.
The Person
As an absolute prerequisite the successful candidate should have prior experience at CTO (or equivalent) level, ideally within a private equity backed business and in a cost conscious environment where costs are scrutinised and margins are small.
Furthermore it is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a background in a FMCG/e-commerce business with large scale dependence on brands/building brands via online campaigns – integrating both SEO and PPC strategies.
Beyond that we are seeking someone with strong interpersonal skills, who has strong leadership experience within an organisation where IT/ecommerce development is business critical.
Knowledge, Experience Ability
A strong background in eCommerce will be necessary as you will be responsible for ensuring that the platform is designed and built to be a high performance and high volume foundation for eCommerce activity. The environment for this platform will be made up of a Java EE, Open Source and Commercial software package. As CTO you will oversee the entire engineering endeavour, spanning multiple offices of developers and engineers as well as the leadership of a dedicated E-commerce Manager. Budget, project, and resources will be your responsibility to monitor. Previous global roll-outs of eCommerce platforms on a national/global level would be absolutely ideal.
