Chief Technology Officer / Personnel and Resource Leader
A leading proprietary and fund manager of circa 100 employees is looking for someone to lead, organise, and manage (with authority) it’s 22 person technology team.
The firm has been operating for approximately 20 years and this position is more of a strategic position rather than a gap filling exercise. Currently there are 3 Director-MD level employees within the team that are strong architects and programmers. However, the team is lacking organisation as the firm is split between it’s two US offices and the firm employees personality types spanning the US. The firm also has a European presence. The partners of the firm are looking for someone to come in with an unbiased view to lead the team, prioritise tasks and manage the individuals and their dealing with ad-hoc trader requests versus longer term projects.
In both its asset management and proprietary trading operations, the firm blends a diversified mix of quantitative trading programs in order to generate profits across a number of business units and wide spectrum of market environments. The firm’s culture is one of it’s key foundations of its success and “cultural fit” is actually a serious factor when evaluating potential employees. The firm is not one of the typical and well known ultra HFT groups and so a technology leader that is looking to break record in the search for ultra low-latency will not be suitable for this position.
We are either looking for a senior algo/quant trading technology leader or a highly experienced technology project manager that is a good manager AND leader of people and resources. Although this position is not particularly hand-on technology-wise as you would expect from a leadership position, it is important that this person is credible.
This is an immediate hire, interviews have already begun. GQR also welcomes tentative enquiries from suitably qualified individuals.Confidentiality and utmost discretion is 100% assured. Please call our LA office direct.
