Our Team

EMEA Product Risk Management is an independent function reporting to the Investor Services Product Risk Executive and JPM Chief Risk Officer. EMEA Product Risk Management, in partnership with the line of business management, covers all risks facing our clients and products within the Western European and developed markets of Central and Eastern Europe and, Middle East and Africa.

Opportunity

The successful candidate will join an existing Investor Services Risk Management team to lead the EMEA Custody Product Risk team. The role involves significant interaction with Sales Client Management, Product Management, Operations, Risk Management seniors and CIB Credit Risk Management. A prior knowledge of the core WSS product companies would be advantageous. A sound understanding of financial markets, Bank, Insurance and Fund industry sectors and the Firm's basic credit principles and familiarity of credit policy would also be advantageous.

Essential Duties

Managing a team of existing Product Risk Managers, Independently identify, assess, and ensure risks (inherent operational, fiduciary, reputational, credit and market risks) are proactively managed across products, client segments, business functions and geographies/ legal entities against risk tolerance levels; advise management on risk profile and emerging risks; recommend ensure appropriate mitigating actions are taken to achieve risk tolerance levels

•Ensure risk tolerance levels are approved, clearly defined and appropriately factored into risk-reward decisions
•Advise business on risk considerations of strategy relating to product development, expansion/retrenchment; organizational initiatives; talent management
•Advise on controls best practices and ensure gaps are mitigated, particularly where cross-business linkages exist
•Provide guidance on regulatory initiatives; interface with Regulators; fulfil legal entity risk requirements
•Design and implement risk awareness training programs
•Escalate emerging issues and matters requiring executive focus
•Develop/maintain Risk Policies; provide ongoing risk policy guidance and monitor business compliance
•Advise business in establishing comprehensive product guidelines framework to ensure appropriate risk/control focus and global consistency
•Ensure risks are identified and appropriately considered in business case analysis and NBIA requirements
•Assist with structuring complex or non-standard transactions; drive global consistency across structures, terms conditions as appropriate
•Advise business, legal, CRM on risk mitigation options for products offered to clients with deteriorating credit profiles
•Proactively manage crisis events including data collection and cease settlement rapid exposure drills (RED)
•Proactively mitigate bankruptcy/ crisis situations and implement appropriate controls (eg, account alerts or blocks)
•Oversee the migration and integration of the Transaction Approval Group into the EMEA Custody Risk team

Qualifications:

A Product Risk Manager within Investor Services must build an effective partnership with the business management and to have an understanding of the products, proceses and strategic goals of the business to enable a holistic approach to risk management.
