Summary:

 

This position provides technical leadership in one or more IT disciplines that support the organization’s technical infrastructure. This position will be responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the the company's Life Citrix Farm(s). Duties will include continually monitoring and evaluating the capacity of the Citrix infrastructure, assisting in Citrix architecture planning, working with the virtualization team to develop plans to expand or implement new Citrix environments and providing technical leadership to resolve major technical issues. The position will also include network hardware and software, data architectures, operating systems, servers, desktop and/or peripherals. The position contributes to technical standards and typically leads project in their area of expertise and/or consults to project teams as a technical lead. The position exists to provide 24x7 operational monitoring, first and second level troubleshooting, and resolution coordination for the company's open systems technology.

 

- Experience designing, installing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting complex and large Citrix server farms.

- Skills optimizing Citrix performance, scalability, security, high-availability, monitoring, printing, connectivity and group policy

- Citrix Server provisioning including server lifecycle (Build, migrate, retire)

- Skills designing, implementing, supporting Citrix XenDesktop (VDI) in a VMware ESX environment.

- Windows system builds including Windows Server 2003/2008 Enterprise, Standard, and R2.

- Configuring and supporting Windows print servers and printers.

- Configuring and supporting Microsoft IIS operations and performance issues.

- Troubleshooting Windows blue screens and documenting resolution.

- Advanced hardware troubleshooting and replacement on Windows Server systems.

- Project creation and execution on firmware upgrade, OS upgrades, Citrix, and hardware upgrades.

- Accept and complete incident tickets and change requests in accordance with change management policy.

- Server health checks (hardware, free disk space, memory, CPU, Antivirus definitions, etc)

- Provide 24x7 on-call responsibilities as part of a weekly staff rotation.

- Communicate with customers from problem identification through problem resolutions regarding technical support.

- Continuously strive to improve processes and efficiencies

 

Business Knowledge:

- Understands the business impacts of different solutions, and can assess the tradeoffs between business needs, technology requirements, and costs

 

Problem Solving:

- Leads internal infrastructure projects. With minimal supervision, this position would analyze vendor proposals, evaluate build versus buy, formulate the project plan, establish the critical path, coordinate vendors, build and conduct tests, and track project progress.

 

Experience:

- 5 or more years experience working in a Win-Intel server environment

- Understands architectural issues, and factors them into decisions and recommendations

- Experience with Citrix is required, specifically with Citrix XenApp

- Experience with VMware is strongly preferred

- Installs and supports complex technical system environments such as Windows Server Operating Systems, Microsoft Cluster Server, Internet Information Server, Windows Terminal Server, Citrix XenApp, and VMware vSphere

- Citrix certification

- MCSE status with other specialty certification
