Citrix/Windows Server Engineer (Entry Level)

The Windows System Engineer is responsible for researching, designing, building, testing, deploying, analyzing, administering, and maintaining environments and hardware and Windows, Citrix software technology components to meet current and future business needs. This includes monitoring and controlling the performance and status of Windows, Citrix components, and providing Windows, Citrix component support and problem resolution. The Windows System Engineer Consultant executes research, design, plan and maintain new or existing hardware and Citrix software technology components. The SE Consultant utilizes systems, scripting and developer skills to execute tasks related to routine to moderately complex hardware and Citrix software infrastructure analysis, integration, and moderate incident and problem resolution. This role also helps define and update items in the configuration management plan. The Windows System Engineer is specifically knowledgeable in Windows server operating systems (example: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 R2) and workstation systems. S/he is able to integrate associated supporting products such as Exchange Server, SQL Server, Cluster, Proxy Server into the Citrix computing environment. The Windows System Engineer understands networking standards and protocols and associated technology suites. S/he is able to integrate multiple servers and workstations into the enterprise, understanding Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and WINS. Also familiar with data protection technologies, including backup and anti-virus systems. Execute one or more of the following activities (concerning new hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware software infrastructure components or enhancements to existing components): research, analysis, selection, planning, and engineering. Collaborate with other Service Engineers to ensure that the modified hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware software interacts appropriately, data conversion impacts are considered, environments are developed and maintained and other areas of impact are addressed and meet business function and performance requirements. Execute testing, debugging, performance analysis, and documenting hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware software components. Execute the implementation of hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware software components by analyzing the current system environment and infrastructure, using technical tools and utilities, and performing complex product customizations Utilize and maintain tools for the use of maintaining, modifying and monitoring hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware software technology components Execute supporting production service requests, performing routine administration, and supporting hardware and software. Execute routine hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware software technical components analysis, and evaluation on resource requirements necessary to maintain/expand service levels or tune hardware and software components for optimum performance. Execute efforts to ensure plans integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware software Analyze hardware and Windows, Citrix or VMware system software and identify and recommend minor or routine changes for purposes of incident avoidance. Contribute to the development and update of the configuration management plan as directed. Execute effort to determine the originating factors for a given incident and develop recommendations for preventing its repetition. Monitor daily use of Windows, Citrix or VMware components to identify and address expected capacity pitfalls and diagnose deviations or substandard security performance. Resolve moderately to highly complex incidents and perform root cause analysis and escalate more complex incidents and problems to provide future hardware and/or Windows, Citrix or VMware software resiliency. Develop plans to meet required service levels; design data collection and reporting mechanisms for technical component health reporting. Support Sr. Consultant and Technician level Windows System Engineers in project management, planning and estimating, reporting, scheduling, and workflow; guides Specialist-level Windows System Engineers in these processes. Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation schedule Ensure availability, stability, integrity and performance of Windows, Citrix and VMWare base services and infrastructure.
