Job Description

Under minimal supervision, the position supports the Claims team in providing efficient and accurate handling of the technical aspects of Claims processing as well as administrative assistance to the department.

  • Opens claims in claims system and inputs all data related to claim based on information provided by the claims professional. Prepares claim folders and provides to the claims professional
  • Requests documents related to claims from insured’s, brokers, outside administrators and underwriters
  • Orderly maintenance of physical claim files, including obtaining policy information and other documentation
  • Updates activity logs to track status of claims activity
  • Input reserves in claims system based on information provided
  • Processes settlement checks and invoices related to claims activity within prescribed requirements. Works with Finance regarding any wire transfer needed within prescribed requirements
  • Prepares, photocopies and distributes correspondence related to claims activity, to include acknowledgement letters and letters with claim payments
  • Opens incoming mail. Provides date/time stamping and distributes or files as appropriate
  • Runs reports, such as loss runs, as requested
  • Close claim files based on information provided by adjuster or claims manager. Inputs data into claims systems and ensures all necessary documentation is included in the claim folder
  • Files closed claims and coordinates the archiving of claim files
  • Handles general office administration duties such as ordering supplies, tracking attendance, coordinating travel arrangements, maintaining itineraries and processing expense reports
  • Train new employees within Claims department on technical claims process as well as provide guidance to Level 1 CTA. Serve as resource of process and system knowledge to department
  • Job Requirements:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years business experience within the insurance industry preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of claims processing
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively train direct reports
  • Superior working knowledge of PC based systems and applications such as Microsoft Office and data-based systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments; demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Must fluently write and speak Spanish

  • PAY RATE: $13-$14/hr
