The Claims Case Manager III manages, investigates and resolves claims assigned by the Senior Claims Case Manager and assists in providing service to policyholders/customers which may include national or large business accounts as well as the more complex cases within the Claims Service Team.
Responsibilities:
- Manages, processes and resolves claims assigned by Senior Claims Case Manager
- Evaluates coverage and liability and settles claims within prescribed limits
- Communicates with policyholders/customers, witnesses, claimants, etc. in order to gather information regarding claims and refers tasks to auxiliary units as necessary; responds to various written and telephone inquiries including status reports
- Ensures adequacy of reserves
- Confirms or denies coverage and advises policyholders/customers as to proper course of action
- Assists in customer service activities, including participation in claims reviews
- Makes effective use of loss management techniques (Direct Dealing; ICP; L9 checks; open end release; first call settlements)
- Negotiates settlements with attorneys, claimants, and/or co-defendants
- Updates files and provides comprehensive reports as required
- May provide guidance to the less experienced team members and may act as a Senior Case Manager his/her absence
Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal, analytical and negotiation abilities required
- Knowledge of legal liability, case management, and general insurance policy coverage, including acts in multiple jurisdictions
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions on routine issues
- College education or equivalent training plus 3-5 years of direct auto and general liability experience
- Licensing required in some states
