Claims Specialist recruitment

The requirements for this role include, but are not limited to:

• Managing a portfolio of reinsurance claims within a captive and run-off environment
• Commuting inward and outward reinsurance contracts
• Applying a high level of reinsurance technical knowledge to the processing of claims payments and recovers, as well as ensuring the organization’s reinsurance asset is fully pursued
• Preparing claims for commutation, negotiating commutation settlements and putting forward compelling arguments for the company’s position
• Ensuring that the service level agreement standards with the business unit clients are met. Taking responsibility for resolving client issues and building a strong customer focus as well as achieving positive results by working closely with the underwriting and client managers as well as other support staff, as well as facilitating reinsurance audits and reviews of cedants claims.
• Ensuring reinsurance programmes are aligned with claims recovery process
• Providing mentoring and technical advice to fellow claims staff

In order to be successful in this role, you should possess:

• A bachelors degree with relevant local insurance qualifications
• 6 years previous experience in the claims division of the local insurance / reinsurance market
• Strong knowledge of property and engineering claims
• Strong knowledge of SAP and Excel
• Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills
• The ability to manage your work effectively with minimum supervision
• The ability to quickly analyse information and act on it appropriately
• The ability to work independently and take action to resolve unusual issues
