Claims Team Leader – Life Insurance recruitment

The Life Insurance claims area is responsible for the assessment of claims across all life risk products. To assist the development and strong growth of the life insurance claims department, we are looking for a Claims Team Leader, to be based in Sydney.
Reporting directly to the National Claims Manager, you will be required to assist with the mentoring and development of the claims assessors; review and management of contentious claims; dealing with complaints; and assistance with the ongoing development of best practice claims management principles.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Several years in the claims department in various capacities
- Proven ability of mentoring and developing peers
- Strong working knowledge of all aspects of retail life risk claims assessing, including medical, legal as well as financial knowledge
- Experience in managing complaints and aware of external dispute resolution protocols
- Good knowledge of, or genuine interest in, financial markets and insurance products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A team-oriented approach, as well as the confidence to act autonomously
- Good planning skills and ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
- A flexible and positive approach
- A high level of initiative and self motivation
