As part of GCG, the Global Client Relations (GCR) function is committed to the pursuit of maximising client reach, retention and relationships underpinned by a strong commercial orientation. Global in its remit, core activities span client-facing as well as client infrastructure activities. These include relationship management, client servicing, client marketing, client RM strategy and global data management.
Role Purpose
The Client Relationship Management team operates with the GCR function and is primarily responsible for managing relationships with institutional clients across the globe, including developing and converting potential business, maximising client engagement and delivering solutions. The successful candidate is focused on achieving these goals via collaborative cross-selling, representation of a diversified product offering, depth of asset class knowledge, overseeing exceptional servicing excellence and holistic client account planning. The successful candidate will also develop and implement a strategy to deepen client engagement, personalization and connection with the firm.
The Client Director is an integral part of the Client Relationship Management team with direct responsibility for managing and enhancing the Company’s relationships with some of Standard Life Investment’s most important institutional clients. Strong understanding of the bandwidth of Standard Life Investment’s core asset classes is essential. The Client Director ensures a smooth transition of mandates and is instrumental in building the business long-term, whilst representing the brand values of Standard Life Investments.
Key Outcomes
• Supporting the Head of GCR and GCG to promote a client-centric ethos, agenda and culture firmwide
• Promoting Standard Life Investments as a pedigree and forward-thinking global Investment House
• Building strong relationships with existing clients and maximising retention
• Representing the breadth of investment capabilities and strategies offered by SLI to clients
• Delivering cross-sales, diversification and retention targets set out in GCG business strategy
• Personalising relationships with platinum clients and implementing solutions to deepen these
• Identifying opportunities to cross sell to UK clients with bases overseas
• Ensuring sustained knowledge of SLI product range, structures, systems regulations and compliance issues
• Approving informative, comprehensive, accurate and timely investment reports and literature
• Overseeing exceptional servicing and pre-empting / resolving / escalating business risks
• Proactively enhancing servicing standards, processes and practices with regular feedback to teams
• Leading by example in terms of RM best practice, client-centricity and collegiate behaviours
• Working collaboratively with team colleagues and Sales, Marketing, Product and Operations
• Assisting in the on-the-job training and career development of Client Managers
• Providing a consistent client experience through a focus on needs in line with the Company's TCF policy
Core Knowledge
• Proven track record in building and /or leading sophisticated client relationship management
• Notable experience of cross-selling and client servicing environments within Financial services
• Strong understanding of a range of investment asset classes
• Deep knowledge of investment markets and products, with asset class expertise
• Ability to develop appropriate and relevant retention and proactive business client strategies
• International exposure to segregated clients gained on a multi-cultural basis
• Understanding of Standard Life Investments’ investment strategy and control environment.
• Experience in working within a multi-asset environment.
• A good working knowledge of the legal, compliance and regulatory provisions associated with the role
• Global mindset and appreciation of operating in various cultures
• In-depth knowledge of business processes and procedures in accordance with the Company's TCF policy
• A thorough knowledge of competitors and best practice relationship management

Qualifications
• Educated to degree level, with relevant experience in an investment related role
• IMC or CFA qualified
