Client Executive – Western Region recruitment

Role Summary

This position serves as relationship manager ensuring that Russell’s Index clients and the investment marketplace’s needs are met by Russell index products, services and methodologies. The CE assumes primary responsibility for Territory’s revenue retention and cross-sells products and services to drive new revenue.   This position is the territory expert in Russell index methodologies and implications to investment managers and derivative traders and provides issue resolution to mitigate legal, tracking error, competitive and reputational risk to Russell and its clients. This position is charged with building strong relationships which enable future revenue growth and championing the Russell indexes with clients prospects and at institutional events.  

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

• Retain revenue in geographical territory. Handle objections and work with regional directors to turn potential cancellations in to new revenue or reduce them.

• Proactively communicate enhancements to products and services, and cross-sell new offerings for future sales.

• Support the regional directors with regard to revenue growth. 

• Ensure overall client satisfaction of Russell index products (delivered directly and via third parties). 

• Champion Russell indexes and act as subject matter expert to support client relationships and build our brand.

• Respond to client questions and queries, ensuring complete and thorough understanding of their issue and its potential resolutions.

• Analyze complex issues and work with operations, product management to ultimately resolve. Delegate less complex activity to client service associates or other resources.

• Act as a mentor within client service team.

• Formally present Russell indexes to broad audiences, both internally and externally to prospects and clients. 

• Maintain thorough knowledge of index industry and competitor differentiation in order to articulate Russell index benefits. 

• Meet with most significant clients on an annual basis. Travel as required.

• Contribute to product development and enhancement process, articulating needs and issues clients face. 

• Propose solutions and strategies for enhancements to product management and operations. 

• Advocate market perspective to enhance the understanding of internal associates.


The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

• Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Economics or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

• CFA Designation or progress toward preferred.

• Investment management and index industry knowledge.

• 8 –10 years professional customer service experience.

• 8 –10 years in financial services industry.

• Strong usage of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)

• Analytical skills including the ability to analyze complex spreadsheets and financial data.

• Quantitative skills including the ability to calculate performance data and a variety of security level calculations.

• Superior Client service skills, including adept listening skills and strong negotiation ability.

• Superior communication skills, including written, oral and presentation skills.

• Ability to lead and influence clients and associates to become Russell index advocates.

• Strong Problem solving skills.

• Diplomacy and professionalism in stressful confrontational situations.
