Client Intelligence Group Analyst
The role holder will be an analyst on the CIG (Europe) team within the new Client Intelligence Group (CIG) and will perform the role of deputy to the Regional Head of CIG (Europe), as required, as well as being country Head for UK. Using an innovative system, the team will generate real-time, qualitative assessments of financial crime risk in our most significant client relationships (GBM and top-tier CMB), across the group. These assessments will be generated both proactively and reactively, responding to system-identified risks and business needs.
The role holder will be responsible for assessing this intelligence, determining the level of investigation required, ensuring the delivery of necessary investigation, engaging or escalating where necessary with senior global banking executives in a dialogue on appropriate risk management actions. The role holder will also serve as a point of accountability for requested research, analysis and investigation management for reputational, criminal, political and security risk investigations, associated with HSBC’s dealings in UK, and the wider European region as required.
Key Accountabilities
- To provide timely and reliable intelligence and assessment on potential financial crime risks, to Regional CIG and others, to improve financial crime and reputational risk management decisions in GBM and CMB.
- Supporting the Regional Head to identify and implement improvements in operational casework processes and procedures, to improve the efficient delivery of intelligence.
- To identify development opportunities for the system, and other supporting tools, to enhance the range and quality of intelligence and the identification of potential financial crime risks.
- The provision of timely and reliable intelligence on potential financial crime risks to improve risk management decisions within global banking
- The provision of persuasive and pragmatic advice on risk management measures to senior executives
- Key point of accountability for provision of analytical component of CIG’s investigations
- Conducting in-depth Client Intelligence research and analysis on persons and entities in UK and other countries as required by Regional Head of CIG (Europe)
- Maintenance of multiple investigations at any one time, often under considerable deadline pressure due to transactional requirements across HSBC global business lines.
Experience / Skills
- Outstanding analytical (qualitative), investigative and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrable aptitude for analysing complex, multi-faceted banking relationships and capable of producing work that would be considered a benchmark for the team
- A keen interest in business and current affairs, including financial crime, and demonstrable success working in this area
- Resourceful, creative and inquisitive approach to highly complex tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- The ability to undertake comparative assessments of multiple competing hypotheses
- Strong leadership potential and sound mentoring/coaching credentials
- Highly motivated, entrepreneurial and autonomous
