Client Operations Unit Manager, Vice President recruitment

Candidates at this level are responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of fund accounting operations and the associated external client account relationships.
Unit Managers must effectively manage and resolve problems and also assess how to best satisfy client initiatives and requests.
Unit Managers will have several external contacts, typically at senior levels within client organizations. Unit Managers own the relationship with the client and are key contacts for complaints and special requests. They help in cross selling other State Street products to their clients.
Unit Managers have a "big picture focus" on operations and system needs and assist in developing and implementing procedural and system enhancements. Unit Managers must have a solid understanding of service requirements for fund accounting operations and all aspects of mutual fund/pooled investment business and the industry.

•In conjunction with executive senior management, develops, recommends and executes business plans.
•Manage relationships with key contacts in client companies, making sure that requests are being met and that clients are satisfied with their level of service.
•Assess operational effectiveness and manage staff to streamline functions.
•Responsible for the direction and training of subordinate managers.
•Allocates and coordinates resources and handles personnel and HR related issues.
•Serve on committees. Help define and implement new company initiatives.
•Participate as part of the sales team to secure new business. Develop fee proposals.
•Manage conversions of new business.
•Represent State Street by serving on internal and external committees and industry associations.

Skills

•Equivalent to a B.S. degree in Accounting, Business, or related field. CPA or MBA is preferred.
•10+ years of management experience, preferably with a public accounting, audit firm or with a financial services organization.
•Ability to make decisions that accommodate the needs of the client while safeguarding the interests of State Street.
•Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
•Ability to initiate, effectively manage and improve relationships, both within the company and with peers in the industry and current / prospective clients.
•Advanced leadership, managerial and negotiation skills.
•Expert on SEC, IRS and GAAP accounting requirements and laws as they apply to investment companies. Knowledge of securities language and legal requirements.
•Computer proficiency and working knowledge of various PC software applications.
•Understands our global business in order to effectively strategize with peers and clients on new products / initiatives.
•Ability to act as a role model for the company and within the industry.
