Job Description:

The successful candidate will direct a state of the art clinical laboratory that specializes in cutting edge sequencing technologies to address unmet medical needs for cancer and infectious disease diagnostics. They will develop and maintain laboratory practice standards and staff development programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and laws governing clinical molecular genetics testing. They will ensure results and interpretations are accurate and consistent; monitor and maintain laboratory process accuracy and precision metrics; meet turn-around-times; and maintain quality standards and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

       Ensure appropriate testing and proper reporting of all laboratory specimens.

       Direct, hire, train laboratory staff, monitor and maintain competency levels and certifications.

       Develop, implement, and maintain technical laboratory policies and procedures, quality control, and quality assurance programs.

       Oversee testing process, review all test results, and interpret/report results to providers.

       Develop, justify, and assure efficient utilization of the laboratory budget.
Work with colleagues to advance the state of the art in molecular genetic testing, by implementing new diagnostic tests and analytical methods for cancer and infectious disease.
Improve client satisfaction and the quality / utility of the tests.

       Tracks trends and maintains up-to-date knowledge in the field of sequence based testing, and provides expertise regarding advances in clinical practice.

       Represents the organization in the national and international scientific community.

Requirements:

       Laboratory experience in molecular genetics (minimum 4 years).

       Previous experience in directing a clinical genetics laboratory (minimum 2 years)

        Ph.D and/or MD in molecular genetics, oncology or a related field.

       CLIA Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Molecular Genetics.

       Must meet all State of Massachusetts requirements for Director and Technical Supervisor of a licensed diagnostic molecular genetics laboratory.

       Must possess the ability to communicate molecular diagnostic laboratory results to medical genetics professionals and other clinicians, and directly to patients in concert with other professional staff.

       Must establish and maintain appropriate procedures to ensure the privacy and security of patient identity and all patient information, as required by applicable laws and professional standards.

       Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
