Job Roles

Analyzes resident dictation and progress notes for clinic patients to determine the level of evaluation and management service provided according to guidelines (CMS, PASD), and reports audit results quarterly to Coding and Compliance Manager.

Assigns CPT-4 codes for procedure pre-certifications, and corrects denied claims as needed for 3rd party payer reimbursement.

Assists the Coding and Compliance Manager in developing and providing in-services to residents and faculty on EM enhancements, coding updates, and documentation issues.

Communicates with Coding and Compliance Manager any patterns/problems with physician documentation, any problems regarding inpatient or outpatient charges, and any patterns in errors made in physician coding.

When needed, assigns appropriate ICD-9/CPT-4 codes for all diagnoses and procedures affecting inpatient hospital services provided by PASD, and enters the information in LSS.
