As the Clinical Coordinator at Kaplan College, Sacramento, you will identify clinical sites and preceptorship experiences for students in the Nursing programs that meet the specific clinical objectives of the courses. You will also evaluate the sites to ensure that they are meeting the needs of our students in order to achieve and complete all practice outcomes of their programs of study. This responsibility includes establishing and maintaining ongoing communication and collaboration between the clinical sites, the faculty and outside interests. The Clinical coordinator is to be proactive and use collaborative problem solving skills to ensure that the Nursing Program adheres to its contractual agreements while ensuring positive clinical experiences for students that will maximize the development of their nursing skills.

Primary responsibilities:

Working with the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing and faculty, the Clinical Coordinator will establish the criteria and standards for clinical and preceptorship experiences for students.

Responsible for arranging and facilitating orientation for both students and instructors at the clinical sites.

Oversight and responsibility for ensuring that evidence based practice is incorporated into clinical learning experiences

Participate in curricular development, evaluation and assessment of students in their practice settings.

Participate in student recruitment and retention activities that include, but are not limited to: coordinating departmental student academic advising.

Assist with department planning, program assessment and quality improvement initiatives

Before and during the clinical rotations, maintains communication with clinical site personnel, students and faculty, to assure positive clinical experiences are occurring and assure that any issues are identified and resolved

Schedule and manage regular meetings for clinical partners, preceptors, faculty and students as appropriate.

May teach one section per term as determined by Director of Nursing.

Gathers, collates and manages and analyze all clinical related data such as student, faculty and clinical site surveys. Assist in preparing required documentation for regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Role models professional relationships with students, faculty, clinical facility representatives,and clinical nursing staff.

Perform other similar job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:
Master's Degree in Nursing

7-10 years related experience in clinical practice/teaching

Ability to work some evening and weekends as needed

Experience supervising students or health care delivery staff

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Ability to work independently with light supervision
