Hays Healthcare is proud to working with an industry leading solicitors firm, who are looking to add a Clinical Negligence Nurse to their existing team. This role can be based in either Manchester or Chester and is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded nurse to work in an office based “9-5 role”.

The Role:

The post holder will become an integral part of the clinical negligence team, providing an invaluable role in the overall process. This role involves dealing with and investigating new enquiries and participating in screening meetings in order to assist new and potential claims. A synopsis of duties is listed below:

• To identity and analyse medical records and prepare chronologies to ascertain if a claim is ultimately viable.
• Whether there is basis for a clinical negligence claim by reference to medicine and law.
• To determine the potential value of the claim
• To liaise with medical expects for screening purposes
• This is a varied and challenging role in which full training will be given as necessary

The Candidate:

A nursing background is of course essential and the ideal candidate will have tangible experience in the following areas:

• The screening process of individuals
• Experience of assessing patient medical records and notes
• Experience of researching medical issues
• An understanding of the key elements contained in the Limitation Act 1980

Skills Experience:

• Professional nursing qualification
• A highly effective, confident and empathetic communicator
• Excellent report writing skills (written and oral)
• Excellent organisational skills
• IT literate
• Flexibility
• Knowledge of legal terminology
