Clinical Registered Dietitian Job in Orlando 32801, Florida US
Nemours is seeking a Clinical Registered Dietitian to join our team at the Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida.
This position serves as a nutrition consultant in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Nutritional care is provided for multiple subspecialty areas including endocrinology, nephrology, pulmonology, hematology, gastroenterology, genetics and neurology.
Job Duties
- Functions as a nutrition consultant, completing nutrition referrals from Nemours physicians, as well as community pediatricians.
- Develops and implements nutritional care plans based on documented nutritional assessments which encompasses
- data pertaining to diet history, labs, medications, supplements, medical history, expected growth and development appropriate for the patient's age, sex, cultural /ethnic background and disease specific requirements.
- Performs nutrition counseling for pediatric patients/caretakers regarding disease specific diets and /or formulas. This requires knowledge of composition of infant and pediatric formulas, along with ability to calculate specialized formula recipes and meal plans.
- Communicates nutritional assessments, counseling reports and care plans to referring physicians and other healthcare providers through medical record documentation system.
- Continually updates knowledge and teaching materials recommended for nutritional therapies pertaining to specific disease entities.
- Interacts and coordinates nutritional care of patients with physicians and other health care providers (nurses, social workers, therapists, hospital/community dietitians, homecare companies, pharmacies and school personnel).
- Participates in division team rounds as necessary.
- Serves as nutrition resource to medical team, hospital staff and community.
- Fulfills continuing education requirements to maintain registration through the American Dietetic Association (RD) Florida State Licensure (LD/N), and additional specialty certification (CNSC, CDE, CSP).
- Complies with HIPPA and OSHA/Safety Regulations.
- Supports the concepts and philosophies of Patient and Family Centered Care.
- Adheres to the Nemours Standards of Behavior.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) required; Master's degree in Nutrition preferred.
- Minimum of two years' Pediatric experience as a Dietitian required.
- Must be an RD-Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Must obtain Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LD/N) status through the Florida Department of Health within 6 months of hire.
- CDE, CNSC and/or CSP certification preferred.
