Role Summary/Purpose
The Cloud Solution Architect reports to the Infrastructure as a Service CTO and is responsible for the overall architecture design for the Commercial Cloud solution. The Cloud Solution Architect will work closely with IT and Software architects from across GE to define the long term technical roadmap for the Commercial Cloud solution. Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date reference architecture and associated technology roadmaps for the Commercial Cloud solution.
Essential Responsibilities
The Cloud Solution Architect will:
Provide current state, future state and gap analysis for the GE Commercial Cloud Architecture
Work closely with the Global Software Center to create a strong alignment between the Commercial Cloud and GE’s Internet of Things strategy
Be an evangelist of the Commercial Cloud and the value and capabilities of cloud-based solutions, in general
Create effective working relationships with IT and GE Business Enterprise Architects in order to design and maintain an architecture that meets the needs of the GE Businesses
Interact with external cloud providers; evaluate potential designs for integration with external clouds
Evaluate emerging trends for potential integration into the Commercial Cloud Solution Architecture; partner with GE software teams to explore the potential applications for these emerging technologies
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in computer science, information systems (or a related field of study) or Minimum 5 years of experience as a data analyst (or equivalent information technology professional)
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be willing to work from a US GIS office location or remotely from a US home office
Desired Characteristics
Experience designing and implementing enterprise-class IaaS or PaaS solutions
Demonstrate knowledge of cloud computing fundamentals
Proven experience aligning information technology services to business goals; setting and exceeding goals and objectives and operational targets
Demonstrate analytical, systems design/integration and problem solving skills
MBA or Master’s Degree in an information management related field
Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models
Experience building and maintaining a service oriented architecture
Proven experience integrating application, information and technical domain architectures
Ability to rapidly evaluate changing technologies and apply them to the business environment
Six Sigma Blackbelt certification
TOGAF, Zachman or similar Enterprise Architecture Methodology experience/certification
Ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of IT professionals located in multiple sites, including proven effectiveness working with global teams
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff
Ability to work well with others and be respected as a thought leader
Track record of remaining unbiased towards specific technologies or vendors

Change acceleration and adoption skills
