Having been acquired in 2010 by CQME, a major multi-billion dollar turnover business, the PTG divisions have been tasked with reinvesting the company's profits into the future success of all its businesses. They are now at the beginning of a period of significant investment both in the UK and China.
A joint venture has been agreed for an additional manufacturing facility to be built in China to service the Far East market, in addition to further expansion of the site based in Milnrow, Lancashire.
As part of the Project team we are now looking for two skilled CNC Machining Engineers (Senior Setter/Operators). In these roles you will have the fantastic opportunity of going out to China, overseeing the set up of the machines, identifying improvements and adjusting the programmes. You will then train the chinese operators on how to operate the machines and put procedures in place to ensure that they can produce the parts to the correct tolerances and quality.
As a CNC Engineer, key responsibilities of you role will be to:
- Develop and implement process work instruction's to ensure standardised working procedures are adhered to
- Organise and conduct Production Trial Runs, Capability Study on new and existing parts, analysing data to determine and implement what, if any, adjustments need to be made to the programmes and set up.
- Facilitate problem solving, to ensure that the manufacturing equipment is running at optimum rates
- Provide drawings, CNC programmes, process sheet, tool, fixture and gauge needs to ensure that samples and production parts are produced to meet customer due dates
- Demonstrate to and train the Chinese operators who will be responsible for running the machines after handover.
The successful candidates will be experienced CNC Machinists/Setters/Operators who come from a metal cutting background; milling, turning, grinding and have previous experience of working in a similar role.
Initially based in the UK learning the products and manufacturing equipment, as the project moves forward you will spend periods of 2-3 weeks based out in China, working with the Chinese workforce and then 4 weeks back in the UK and this will be repeated for the next 9-12 months. Therefore excellent interpersonal skills are essential for the roles of CNC Engineer, with the ability to communicate at all levels and across different cultures.
