CNC MACHINIST Job

The CNC Machinist will be working on either 2nd or 3rd shift where they will be responsible for various machine operations. Essential Responsibilities - Set-up and operate machine tools to perform series of progressive machining operations holding precise tolerances and finish requirements - Mount, align and secure holding fixtures or locate, support and secure work piece in absence of fixturing, as required - Install machine programs, understand programming language, proof programs, make edits, adjust offsets, and send programs back to computer through DNC - Adjust machine or console to correct deviations from program specifications - Inspect first piece and in-process pieces, as specified in the work instructions - Qualify machine, fixture, tooling, preset tools and offsets - Make adjustments as needed to hold tolerances - Manually cycle machine, bore jaws, check tooling, fixturing, work alignment, clearances, stops, etc., to meet program / blueprint specifications Qualifications/Requirements: - High school diploma / GED - Minimum of 3 years machining experience Eligibility Requirements: - Ability to set-up and operate machine tools to perform series of progressive machining operations holding precise tolerances and finish requirements Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - Ability to mount, align and secure holding fixtures or locate, support and secure work piece in absence of fixturing, as required - Ability to install machine programs, understand programming language, proof programs, make edits, adjust offsets, and send programs back to computer through DNC - Ability to adjust machine or console to correct deviations from program specifications - Ability to inspect first piece and in-process pieces, as specified in the work instructions - Ability to qualify machine, fixture, tooling, preset tools and offsets - Ability to make adjustments as needed to hold tolerances - Ability to manually cycle machine, bore jaws, check tooling, fixturing, work alignment, clearances, stops, etc., to meet program / blueprint specifications - Ability to work from written instructions - Have basic math and reading skills - Have general knowledge and the ability to read and interpret blueprints - Ability to interpret basic GDT and conversion of metric to American standard - Ability to measure, inspect and document critical to quality characteristics using a variety of precision measuring equipment (i.e. micrometers, calipers, dial bore gages, etc.) to verify dimensional requirements - Ability to understand and measure surface finish characteristics - Journeymen status or associate degree is preferred - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. - Experience working with gas engines - Ability to work in a hands on environment - Working knowledge of SPC (statistical process control) - Effective communication - Flexibility regarding work hours and overtime as required Why join one great company when you can join many?
